Resolution:  McLean Central Park Development Concept
On July 7, 2021, the MCA Board approved a Resolution on the McLean Central Park Development Concept. The Resolution states that MCA opposes the proposed new amphitheater, to be located at the corner of Ingleside Road and Dolley Madison Boulevard, due to lack of demonstrated need and redundancy with nearby amphitheaters and performance venues, adverse impact on the environment due to loss of green space and tree canopy, and negative effects on the adjacent residential neighborhood from noise, traffic, and parking demand impacts associated with future amphitheater events. MCA members and concerned individuals are encouraged to to submit comments in support of the resolution to parkmail@fairfaxcounty.gov. September 1, 2021 at 7:30 - Monthly Board of Directors Meeting

October 19, 2021 at 7:00  - Forum on Infill Development and Tree Preservation at the McLean Community Center
.
This forum will highlight and explain the reasons and challenges concerning infill development (which results on a residential level when older homes are torn down and replaced with new ones) and the corresponding effect of such development on tree canopy (when older, established trees are removed and sometimes replaced, in whole or part, with new ones). Infill development is a very complicated process, coupled with regulatory processes designed to protect local trees and other requirements concerning stormwater managements and more. We hope you can attend this forum to hear a panel of experts discuss the balance between and challenges of infill development and tree preservation, related County and State ordinances and regulations, and how the community can participate in the infill development process and assist with the protection of the trees in their neighborhoods.  Due to limited seating, registration will be required.  Registration will be open to MCA members starting September 1.  Non-member registration will be subject to seat availability and will open on October 1.  Not a MCA member?  Use this link to signup today - Member Signup / Information.
