MCA asks EQAC to:
1) support county efforts to promote public awareness about climate change and ways that the public can help mitigate it,
2) ask county staff to revisit the county tree preservation ordinance to come up with ways that it could be strengthened,
3) support adequate funding for stream restoration projects and encourage the use of best practices for the preservation of forested riparian buffers and trees during streambank restoration activities, and
4) review and consider the environmental effects of synthetic turf in the county.
MCA also expresses support for stable funding for the park authority invasive species removal programs and park maintenance and for public outreach efforts that increase awareness about the benefits of native plants for our environment.
