Tysons Student Population Projections

On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, James Beggs, Chair of MCA’s Education & Youth Committee, and Committee Member Nora Molnar briefed the Greater Tysons Citizens Coalition (GTCC) on their analyses of student population projections for the school pyramids that serve Tysons, McLean, and Vienna. Their analysis recommended greater attention to longer term planning to address the likely significant additional demand on Tysons’ area schools beyond the 5-year forecasts used for formal capital planning for school renovations and new schools. Their brief was followed by discussion with Dranesville School Board member Elaine Tholen and FCPS Coordinator for Facilities Services Planning Pranita Ranbhise of steps that the School Board and FCPS have underway to improve longer projection planning.
