MCA Establishes Committee to Consider McLean Governance Issues

Glenn Harris | Published on 1/11/2021

On January 6, 2021, the MCA Board of Directors established a new ad hoc committee to look into the issues of McLean governance.  The Board voted to approve a five-year charter for the new Community Governance Committee and to appoint William Henneberg as the interim committee chair.  The Committee was established in recognition of the fact that the moratorium on the creation of new cities in Virginia, established via Section 15.2-3201 of the Virginia Code, expires at the end of Fiscal 2024 (June 30, 2024).  The purpose of the new committee will be to study the advantages and disadvantages of McLean becoming an independent city, and whether there are other actions that would give McLean residents greater control over managing their affairs.  If you would like to participate on the new committee, please contact William Henneberg at: w.a.henneberg@gmail.com.
