FCPA Briefing on Status of Tysons Parks & Athletic Fields
Published on 9/12/2019
On Thursday, September 12, 2019, Andrea Dorlester, Development Review Section Chief for the Fairfax County Park Authority briefed the Greater Tysons Citizens Coalition on the status of achieving the Tysons Comprehensive Plan guidance regarding parks and athletic fields within Tysons. Briefly, Tysons' developers have built or, in the context of BOS-approved redevelopment plans, have proffered parks and athletic fields that would put Tysons on track to meet the guidance relating to the number, type and quality of parks and athletic fields. The Park Authority staff continues to review new applications, with the objective of keeping Tysons on track to meet the guidance. In response to questioning, Ms. Dorlester noted that one proposed development proposal presents a new and novel dilemma in this regard, and would result in Tysons not meeting the 20 athletic field goal.
