FCPS announces the appointment of a new principal.
Cherith Pierson, who currently serves as assistant principal at Cooper Middle, has been selected as the new principal of Churchill Road Elementary, effective January 2, 2020. Previously, Pierson has served as a reading resource coach, instructional coach, and assistant principal at the elementary and middle school levels. She has also served as an elementary and middle school principal in Pennsylvania and as an overseas coordinator for school accreditation. Pierson has been instrumental in embracing and increasing cultural awareness in the school community. Her leadership influenced the expansion of cross-curricular work incorporating the arts and technology at Cooper Middle. In addition, she coordinated summer academic and enrichment programs that focused on students’ holistic needs. Pierson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in English and religion from Clarks Summit University. She holds two master’s degrees: the first in secondary education English from the University of Scranton and the second in literacy and learning from Millersville University.
