This is a message we're hoping will be shared with HOA leadership and their respective communities:

Serious school overcrowding has led to the creation of McLean High Students, Parents and Community Expect Sensible School Size (McSpaces).
McLean High is currently at 114 percent overcapacity, 255 students above its 2,000 FCPS design capacity. By 2022, that number will climb to 500 students with a school that is 127 percent overcapacity. McLean will then be the most crowded high school in Fairfax County with no serious plan for near-term relief in sight.
School officials have proposed a boundary adjustment between Langley and McLean high schools to relieve the pressure. Officials have barely begun discussing and debating what could be a lengthy process with little real relief.
The other overcrowding proposal is the addition of a 14 class “modular” complex located on a softball field south of the current 14 class trailers now at McLean High. If installed, 800 students will be in class outside the security envelope of the building.
McSPaCES will fight school overcrowding and support quality learning space. To learn more go to McSpaces, Facebook or email us at Mcspaces1955@gmail.com.
