Action Taken at the April 6, MCA Board of Directors Meeting, New Videos and Upcoming Events:  A recording of the meeting is posted on MCA's Home Page in the Video Library.

On April 6, the MCA Board passed an 11-page resolution on the County Executive's Fiscal Year 2024 Advertised Budget.  Given crime increases in greater McLean as well as the over 200 vacancies in our Police Department, the MCA urged the Board of Supervisors to bring police salaries up to local market rates, by raising them 15% across the board.  The MCA also requested additional funding for forestry management, and for sidewalks and trails.  Finally, the MCA also urged the Board of Supervisors to reduce the property tax rate by at least 3 cents in FY 2024 and not to increase the tax rate in FY 2025, to partly offset the dramatic increase in residential home assessments over the past two years. For more information, read the news article posted on MCA's homepage - News / Articles . To read the approved resolution,  click here.

On April 6, MCA adopted a resolution urging the Board of Supervisors to oppose a number of proposed amendments to Article 6 of the Zoning Ordinance which regulates off-street parking and loading. Entitled “Parking Reimagined,” the county’s initiative seeks to modernize the ordinance which was adopted in the 1980’s. MCA believes that updates are required, but that key recommendations are unjustified and should not be implemented.  Particular areas of concern include the excessive reductions to off-street minimum parking requirements for multifamily developments, and the granting of increased authority to the Director of Land Development Services to unilaterally reduce parking requirements beyond the 30% allowable reduction in the current ordinance. For more information, read the news article in our news feed - News / Articles. To read the approved resolution, click here.
