Resolutions Passed and Other News

Resolution Passed - Clemyjontri Park Revised Master Plan:  On November 15, 2021, MCA’s Executive Committee approved a resolution prepared by the Environment, Parks, and Recreation Committee regarding the Fairfax County Park Authority’s (FCPA’s) Clemyjontri Park Revised Master Plan Proposal. The resolution provides for conditional support of FCPA’s proposed Phase III development plan for the park, provided that local history programming remain included, and MCA has an opportunity to review the stormwater, invasive control, tree and screening planting, parking, and safe access plans in advance of implementation as the project moves forward. Resolution Passed - Fairfax County Strategic Plan: At a special meeting on November 16, 2021, the MCA Board of Directors approved a resolution that addressed the recently adopted Fairfax County Strategic Plan.  The Strategic Plan is a vision plan for County priorities for the next 10 to 20 years and includes strategies and metrics to advance and measure progress toward the vision.  The Strategic Plan is available on the Fairfax County website - Strategic Plan.  The MCA Board is currently voting to establish a ranking for the recommendations made in the approved Resolution.   A copy of the full resolution and ranked priorities will be made available shortly.
 
MCA Celebrates 100 Years of Incorporation - A special presentation was made by Merrily Pierce and Paul Kohlenberger to recognize MCA's 100 Years of incorporation!  The video of the presentation is available on the MCA website.  The MCA milestone was also covered by the Tysons Reporter.  To access the article, click on - MCA Marks 100 Years.
 
Public Safety Forum - Meet the Chiefs - The McLean Citizens Association hosted a Virtual Public Safety Forum on November 17, 2021, that featured Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Chief John Butler, and Fairfax County Police Department Chief Kevin Davis. The Chiefs discussed their top challenges, priorities, and new Initiatives undertaken. A video of the event is available in the MCA's Video Library.
 
Input Requested on Fairfax Site-Specific Plan Amendment (SSPA) - Survey closes on December 10, 2021
Fairfax County is evaluating its Site-Specific Plan Amendment (SSPA) process and the way land use changes for individual properties or sites are proposed and reviewed. The survey was launched to gather community and stakeholder feedback that the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors will utilize as they review the current process and identify appropriate changes. The survey will be open through midnight on Friday, December 10, 2021, and is available in multiple languages. Input Requested on Pickleball Options at Lewinsville Park - Comment period ends January 7, 2021.
To accommodate the growing number of pickleball players in the greater McLean area, the Fairfax County Park Authority presented pickleball court implementation options at Lewinsville Park (1659 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, Virginia). The presentation focused on options to improve the existing courts and introduce pickleball at the park either as shared-use courts with tennis or as dedicated pickleball courts. Upcoming MCA Event:

January 5, 2021, at 7:30 - MCA Board of Directors Monthly Business Meeting.  We anticipate that we will once again meet in person at the McLean Community Center.  We hope to continue to stream the event on our Facebook page -McLean Citizens Association | Facebook.  An announcement will be sent out closer to the meeting date regarding location.
