Subject: MCA Hosting Homeowners and Condominium Association Forum
From: McLean Citizens Association

Are you a HOA/CA Board Member or live in a common interest community?  Are you aware of the 2019 Virginia legislative changes that will impact your community and what your responsibilities are as a HOA/CA Leader?  MCA invites you to an informative meeting lead by our guest speakers:

Heather S. Gillespie, Common Interest Community (CIC) Ombudsman; Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation

Michelle L. Thompson, Fairfax County Consumer Affairs Branch

Kimberley M O’Halloran-Perez, Principle Partner, Rees Broome, PC

Our speakers will explore the 2019 Virginia legislative changes (includes budget and reserve disclosure requirements, provisions allowing meeting notifications to be sent via email and maintenance of storm water facilities).  They will also discuss what might be addressed in the 2020 legislative session.

There will be an overview of the Fairfax County Short-Term Lodging regulation that was effective October 1, 2018 and we will explore how HOA/CA by-laws might limit short-term rentals in your community.  The Virginia Common Interest Community Board Ombudsman Regulation and Complaint Procedures will be discussed.  Ms. Thompson will provide an overview of the resources Fairfax County provides to HOA/CA leaders.  There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions at the end of the meeting.
