Following the June 28, 2018 Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) presentation of alternatives and request for comments, the MCA Transportation Committee has carefully considered the options presented, and has rejected the "no build" option as well as the addition of dedicated left turn lanes (Alternative C). Based on present and expected future conditions of the Balls Hill and Old Dominion intersection the MCA believes the intersection demands substantial intersection improvements and has recommended continued consideration of the "Improved T-Intersection" (Alternative A.1) to replace the existing skewed intersection.
Additionally, MCA urges FCDOT to continue to proactively engage with adjacent homeowners associations and property owners about the development and implementation of construction plans, so that disruption and attendant cut-through traffic are minimized during construction.
